Invitation

The Organizing Committee would like to invite you to submit a proposal for the Second International Conference on the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA). The Conference will convene at the Hyatt Acapulco, Mexico, October 20-22, 2004 overlapping with the annual meeting of the HL7 International Affiliates (October 18-20) to be held at the same venue.

From the Ivory Tower to the Trenches

Building on the success of the first International Conference on the CDA held in Berlin two years ago, the Acapulco meeting will bring together the expanding CDA user base with standards developers, tools designers and researchers for further exploration of this specification for clinical documents.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Naomi Sager, Research Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University. Dr. Sager is recognized as a founder of the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Her 1981 book "Natural Language Information Processing: A Computer Grammar of English and its Applications" has become a reference volume in the field. Her research group at NYU ("the Linguistic String Project") is particularly known for the development of a specialized Medical Language Processor that converts the free-text portions of patient records into a structured representation of the contents. The system has been implemented in English, French, German and Dutch.

The title of her keynote is: XML Structuring of Clinical Narrative Using Natural Language Processing
