INTRODUCTION
The International Conference on Bioinformatics (InCoB) is the official conference of the Asia-Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet). Beginning in 2002, it has grown to become one of the largest bioinformatics conference in the Asia-Pacific region. This annual conference showcases the latest research and technologies in all areas of bioinformatics and is attended by practitioners from both biology and computing backgrounds in the Asia-Pacific region. This year, InCoB will be held back to back with the Workshop on Education in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (WEBCB), as well as the Singapore Symposium on Computational Biology (SYMBIO), a yearly event organized by the Regional Student Group-Singapore (RSG Singapore) of the Student Council of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB-SC).
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of APBioNet, a network of people associated with the advancement of bioinformatics in the Asia-Pacific region for the past 11 years since its inception in 1998, is held within the InCoB conference annually. Key strategic initiatives to promote the bioinformatics revolution in our life science research and educational community are discussed at the AGM.
In keeping with the increasing quality of the conference, InCoB this year will continue to publish the best papers presented in the conference track in BMC Genomics (Impact Factor 4.18) and also in Bioinformation, just as we have in the past three years.
