Integrating Microarray Gene Expression- Object Model and Clinical Document Architecture using CDE

Introduction

•  New technologies (e.g.: biochips, bioinformatics) and research approaches (e.g.: proteomics, genomics) are revolutionising biomedical research.
•  The Human Genome Project is making a unique contribution to the knowledge of the relationships between human genes and physiopathological states. 

•  Microarray is capable of profiling gene expression patterns of tens of thousands of genes in single experiment. The use of microarray is rapidly expanding to medical field, especially in the cancer research.

Purpose:

• To assess the relevance of microarray analysis it is required to combine clinical and genomics information.

• In order to meet the growing need for improved data communication between clinical and microarray data, it is necessary to overcome the barriers of data heterogeneity and lack of standards.

•  The integration of genetic information in the clinical environment will give rise to a new clinical practice based on Molecular Medicine and personalized healthcare. 
•  The generalization of molecular medicine requires an increased exchange of knowledge between clinical and biological domain.
